We've all had those conversations that alter the course of our lives.  The ones we didn't ever consider  in the most remote part of ourselves.  When I am in the throws of one of these conversations, I find myself having a kinda out of body moment.  Not for real, of course, but I imagine the event as if it were happening to someone else.  These unpredictable moments begin with words.  Just simple words that have an everlasting impact on our lives.

Some of the ones I've experienced are; I think our lives are going in different directions, We have to let you go, We didn't select you, I'm not happy with you, You didn't pass, Mom and Dad aren't married anymore, it's Parkinson's, I know I promised, but things have changed.   These  phrases should have been like bees stinging all over.  I remember wondering why it didn't hurt physically to hear them.  The truth is the words changed the course of my journey, my life.  For just a few seconds after hearing the words, we don't breathe, we don't move, we sit.  I think for me, I was waiting for someone to say,"April Fools!" So the news would not be real.  I mean here I am one minute, heading my journey  down the path I'm supposed to be on and BAM, reality steps in as if to say, "Uh, no, that isn't your course."   It seems I do, eventually exhale and then begin to comprehend what's happening.  At times, I've been known to have the words repeated in an effort to give myself more time to absorb them.  Still, whether or not we are accepting, the journey continues.

However, some of these words from the journey have  no sting, but instead brought joy to hear them.  Some of mine are: It's a girl, I'm in love with you, You just bought a house, We'd like to offer you the position, Its a girl too!  These phrases represent some of the highest points of my journey.  Times when dreams came true and blessings were to be counted.  I guess this is not the sting of the bee, but the unexpected sweet taste of honey.

These are words that re-charted the course of my life journey some sting and some are sweet, but all are part of the journey.  Changes that began with a few mere words which seemed to freeze time for just a bit.  These are the words from MY journey, tell me some of yours.  Leave a comment or catch up to me on twitter @ wordfires  I can't wait to hear words from your journey.   JKH
